Review | Revlon ColourStay Foundation Oily/ Combination Skin

My skin is something that I have never been completely comfortable with. I don't mind not wearing makeup, when I work on a Saturday, I wear absolutely no makeup, (I work in a kitchen) and I don't mind too much but I feel so much more happy when I have makeup on. I have tried numerous foundations over time, and my current one is the Revlon Colourstay Foundation. This foundation is for oily to combination skin. I have never used a foundation for a particular skin type, just Chanel Vitalumier Aqua, Rimmel Wake Me Up and Bourjois Healthy Mix which have worked well, and do stay on nearly all day, but nothing has ever combated oily skin completely. But that was before I used this! First I will talk about application, I have some pictures below to show you:

My natural skin, absolutely no makeup, just moisturiser.

After applying Revlon Colourstay Foundation

Me with full makeup:
Revlon Colourstay Foundation, Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat, Collection 2000 Concealer, Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, Topshop Cream Blush in Flush, Sleek Brow Kit, Yves Saint Laurent Shocking Mascara, MAC Plink Lipstick

As you can see, the foundation provides a very high amount of coverage and is very pigmented- without looking too cakey. On my skin, it nearly stays looking like this throughout the whole day. When I use it in conjunction with Rimmel Stay Matte powder, it hardly budges, which is great!

My only problems with the Revlon foundations is the packaging. Its awful! Sure the glass bottle is nice, but you have to pour the foundation out (which is rather thick) and it can get very messy, and a lot of the time ends up everywhere. It is also hard to judge how much product you are going to want to apply, so some of the product does get wasted unless you try and put it back in the bottle.

Apart from that, I have nothing but good things to say about this foundation and I urge anyone who suffers with oily skin to go to their nearest Boots or Superdrug to have a look at this foundation.

What are your thoughts? Have you ever tried it?

February Favourites

Hi Ladies, today I am sharing my favourite products from the month of February. It has been a great month for me; I recently just returned home from a skiing trip with my friends, where I had the time of my life. But I am glad its March, as on the 23rd, I am going to see One Direction concert. Anyway, onto the products...

Garnier Moisture Match for Oily to Combination Skin Moisturiser
I bought this on a whim in Superdrug when it was on offer; and I'm so glad I did. I am planning on doing a full review on it soon. It is a very light, mattifying day time lotion that is oil free. When I apply it, I always feel as though my skin looks really great. It is a mattifying product so it has that kind of 'grainy' feel on the skin, but that soon disappears, leaving you with a lovely shin free complexion. I have been using other products in conjunction with this, and I have really found that my skin doesn't get as oily throughout the day.

Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait
I got this on a 3 for 2 offer in Boots, and have worn it nearly every day since. It is a really pretty peachy colour with gold shimmer- perfect for the Spring Time. I love wearing peach/coral colours, as I find they compliment my skin tone well.

Philosophy Hope in a Jar Moisturiser
I bought this just after Christmas, when it was on sale. I had heard very mixed reviews on it and you are either going to love it or hate it. And I love it! I can see why some people may be put off as the 'herbal' scent it very over powering, and I must say I'm not a massive fan; but you don't smell it for long. (It actually smells very similar to Lush Dream Cream). It is super light and easily absorbed and I just love using it before I go to bed!

Maybelline The Rocket Mascara
Its not secret that Maybelline Mascaras are probably the best loved high street mascaras, and this one is no exception. I'm not sure whether I like it more than the Falsies, but it gives volume and length which is everything I look for in a mascara!

Revlon Colourstay Foundation
Again, I wont talk too much about this, as I am planning a review, but I am currently LOVING this foundation! It makes my skin look perfect. It has great coverage, but is not thick and cakey. It is the perfect shade for my skin, and really does stay on all day!

Maybelline 24H Gel Eyeliner

I wrote a review of this last year which you can find here. I have been wearing this everyday. Just a thin line on my top lashes in the day, and winging it out for a more dramatic night time look. I apply it with my Real Techniques Liner Brush, and find it really easy now to create the perfect flick. I guess practise really does make perfect!

Sleek Brow Kit
Since the new year, I have filled in my eyebrows every day with this product. I have a full review here. Filling in your brows really does finish off the makeup and without them filled in, my face feels bare! I love the natural look you ca achieve with this set, and is a great dupe and cheaper alternative to Benefits Brow Zings.

I hope you've enjoyed reading this post. What are your favourite products of the month?

Wishlist | Face & Skincare

Hello Ladies! Today I have put together a little wishlist of 'skin' products that I have had my eye on for a while! First is Alpha H Liquid Gold. I am always on the look out for that 'miricale skin product' that is going to give me perfect, glowing skin and leave me looking like Kim Kardashian. Whether or not this product is going to work is another story, but I have heard so many amazing reviews, saying that you really quickly see a difference so I am very intrigued to try it!
I have only ever used Revlon lip products, but I have always wanted to try face products from them. Revlon Photoready Primer & Revlon Colourstay Foundation seem like the duo for my oily skin.
Another product that seems to be having good reviews written about it recently is Origins Clear Improvement Clay Mask. I love Origins products, and some of my skincare staples are Origins, and I really want to try this to banish my blocked pores.
Strictly speaking, this isn't a 'skin' product, but I really want to try It's A 10 Miracle Leave in Product to keep my hair looking and feeling healthy.
My Origins moisturiser is nearly gone, so I ordered a small size of Philosophy Hope in a Jar Moisturiser. I am yet to try it, but I hope it woks well for me!
Lastly is a repurchase of one of my favourite and most used face products: MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural. I have had this for a year now, and it is nearly gone, so I definitely need to repurchase one!

Whats on your wishlist?

October Favourites!

Seriously, how is it November already?! I cant believe my birthday has already been and gone and Christmas is on its way! Not that I mind, as I am super excited!!

The first product is Aussie Sprunch Spray. I bought it in Florida to add a bit of texture to my ombre ends. When your ends are wet, you just spritz it in, scrunch, and they you go, you look like you've stepped right out of the sea, and have achieved perfect beachy waves! I paid around $3, but I cant find it anywhere in the UK.

Next is Lee Stafford Messed Up Wonder Webb. Again, I apply it to my hair to give it texture. I like to do this, as it makes my ombre stand out more. Although, sometimes these two together can make my hair a little sticky. I paid around £6-8 for it.

For the past few weeks Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder has been my powder of choice. Usually, I would use my MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural, but recently, I have found it a bit cakey on my skin. This looks so natural and keeps my oily skin mattified all day. It retails for £3.99.

On the plane, I bought the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette. I got the original one for my birthday this time last year, and as I have used it so much, when I saw this in the duty free magazine, I couldn't leave it, as I knew I would have so much use out of it. The colours are simply stunning, and incredibly pigmented. I think they have raised the price to about £35 now, which seems a lot, but when you think about it, it works out as about £3 an eyeshadow!

Again, I bought the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey in Florida too. I also bought another one, review here. After buying the Nina Dobrev Seventeen Magazine out there, I saw Tess has done a makeup tutorial of it. Being a MASSIVE fan of Nina Dobrev (and The Vampire Diaries; have you seen season 4 so far?!!) I knew I wanted to get the lipstick Tess used to recreate the look. I'm so glad I did. It has been my go to lip colour and is a really beautiful natural colour.
They retail in the UK for £7.99.

A few weeks ago, I did a review of the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick in 107. Review here. I have worn this colour every day I haven't gone to school or work, it is such an easy colour to wear and is so creamy, and a dream to apply. I highly recommend it!!
It retails for £5.79

All through my holiday, and days when I don't want to wear much makeup, I have worn my Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream. It is great just to even out my skin tone and is really light. It is so natural on, and contains SPF 30. Perfect for holidays! It retails for £7.99.

The final product is Origins Modern Friction Exfoliator. I really love this. I use it once a week and it makes my skin so soft. I haven't noticed a difference in the scarring on my face (not that I really expected it too) but after using it, my face has a little more radiance, and a healthy glow. The small tube is £12, and the larger one is £30.

Im Home! & Review | Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush

Hello! Long time no blog! I've been itching to get back to it since I arrived home from the USA on the 27th; unfortuntaly, we have been having trouble at home- no interent and the phone lines are down! Luckily, the broadband is just about working now, so I can get back to it!

I had such a wonderful time in Florida, and if Im completly honest, wish I was there right now. As much as I love it, sitting in a onsie, with a Candy Corn candle burning watching The Paradise doesnt quite compare to the thrill of The Hulk Rollercoaster, being face to face with Bengal Tigers or feeding fish to and stroking dolphins and sting rays!

When I have all the photos together, I will do a little post dedicated to my holiday, so you guys can see some of the amazing sights that I have been lucky enough to witness!

Anyway, I'm going to get straight back into the blogging world with a review. This is a product that I bought when I was out there). (I bought so much, I have decided against writing a haul post; therefore, I will continue to do reviews of each product as I get to it)

I have never tried these before, and havent really tried that many Revlon products (apart of the Lip Butters). My Mum uses the Clinique Chubby Sticks and these are supposed to be just as good, so I decided to give one a go. (And ended buying a second one)!

This shade is Crush, and is the perfect Mulberry Wine colour- perfect for fall/autumn and winter.

You can see it is a mixture between a deep red/ purple.

The whole point of these are that they are more moisturising than a lipstick, but give just as excellent coverage, and when the 'glossyness' has absorbed you are left with a stain on your lips. And honestly, it lasts all day! I like to top it up, as I like the balm look, but the stain looks equally as gorgeous!

This and my Rimmel London Kate Moss Matte Lipstick in 107 (review here) are my go to shades for A/W.

I paid $8.99 at Ulta for this, which converts to just over £4, and they retail for £7.99 in the UK, so its a saving of just under £4. Hence why I bought so much out there!

I'm so glad to be back in the swing of things and expect a LOT of reviews to be coming your way. With my birthday and America things combined, I have an overflowing shoe box in my room just waiting to be blogged about! (I have literally just ordered some Muji storage, so expect a post about that too)!

Review: Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie

Here is my second review of my Revlon Lip Butter, in the shade Berry Smoothie.

Buttery balm with beautiful shiny colour to give you baby soft, healthy glowing lips

Berry Smoothie- R

They all have adorable food related names.

Berry Smoothie is a dusky pink with, some say, yellow undertones.

This is darker than your average pink, but still a beautiful colour that is still wearable for everyday!

Generally, this are incredibly pigmented, and glide on the lips like a dream! They are very moisturising, and do not dry out the lips. They are easy to wear throughout the day, and are not sticky like some lip products can be.
The Lip Butters don't have a scent as such, but do we really need a nice smelling lipstick? Yes, its a nice benefit, (MAC lipsticks smell lovely) but, the fact of the matter is, you cant smell it when its on your lips!
They aren't very hard wearing, compared to some products. Your looking at about 4-5 hours, depending on what your doing, so you might want to carry it with you for touch ups. (Although be wary, as they will melt in heat)!
You don't get a lot of product for the money, about 2cm, which I suppose isn't too bad, but if your wearing them on a daily basis, you may find them going down pretty quickly!
The packaging is very sleek and the quilted, 'Chanel like' front adds extra sophistication.
The top is see-through, so you can see the product through the lid, which I think is a nice idea, so you can see which lipstick it is!
The packaging is similar to the Revlon Lipsticks, but only more sheer.
They are £7.99 to buy, and are available in Boots and Superdrug.
Boots currently has a 3 for 2 offer on.
Overall, I am so impressed with them. They are the perfect mixture of a lipstick, and lip balm!
What are your thoughts?

Review: Revlon Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake

Oh hey bandwagon! So yes, I know you have probably read a hundred and one reviews on the Revlon Lip Butters, but I'll give you my two pennies worth!

Now, you will know that these little babies have caused quite a stir in the beauty world, and I've finally, after weeks of asking in my local Boots and Superdrug, got my hands on some!

The first review is going to be of the shade Strawberry Shortcake.

Strawberry Shortcake- L

Buttery balm with beautiful shiny colour to give you baby soft, healthy glowing lips

Strawberry Shortcake is a bright pink with blue undertones, and a hint of lilac in some lights.

When on the lips, it is a beautiful, wearable colour, for all skin types.

Generally, this are incredibly pigmented, and glide on the lips like a dream! They are very moisturising, and do not dry out the lips. They are easy to wear throughout the day, and are not sticky like some lip products can be.

London Haul

Hello again! Apologies for my absence, but you've probably guessed from the title that I've been staying (well, staying just outside) London for the past four days!
Surprisingly, this isn't one of my larger hauls, being that I am saving for an upcoming shopping trip with a friend and the fact that some things I had my eye on, didn't meet expectations upfront! (I'm looking at you Miss Selfridge Stud Vest)!
So here are the few things I brought!

This is just a little random thing, but my Mum brought me, my sister and herself a pair of these socks to surprise my Dad with. (Him being a soldier). And I think they are just adorable!

I got myself a free Vogue! In the Mail on Sunday (I think) there was a coupon that let you get Vogue for £1, but I was given a voucher for WHSmith that allowed me to get it for free! It beats paying £4.10 for it, but I'm thinking of buying it every month anyway... What do you think, is it worth paying almost a fiver for a magazine?

The next item I found in the Superdrug sale. This Gosh Nail Varnish was only £2! And it is the most beautiful nail varnish in the whole world! It reminds me of OPI Fresh Frog of Bel Air, which is kind of the reason I brought it! Fear not, there will be an upcoming review very shortly!

Although I only purchased a earring set the other week, that was purely because of one pair, whereas with this set, I fell head over heels i love with each and every one of these earrings! They are all lovely, and when you wear them, you wouldn't think they are from Primark!

This doesn't look great on the hanger, but its another bargain from Primark. This cardigan was £5 and its really great for summer, its really light and in a nice summery colour.

Oh Lush, once again I have found myself drawn in by your mouth watering scents and bright quirky products. How can you resist this bright pink egg with the scent of Rockstar, Snow Fairy etc? Mmm, I cant wait for my bath. This ballistic is £2.95.

How could I resist this? I'm not all that sure what I'm going to do with it, but isn't it adorable! It was only 60p from Paperchase! Aww!

This has to be the most exciting thing- I finally got my mitts on the Revlon Lip Butters! At long last! Boots have a 3 for 2 offer on currently, so I got two shades (L- Berry Smoothie and R- Strawberry Shortcake) and got a free Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer.

I know you will have read hundreds of reviews on them, but I might do one soon.

I did get a dress in the Red Herring sale at Debenhams, but its in the wash, so I might have to add a photo at a later date. I also got some lingerie for Debenhams, the bra being £14 and you get the pair of matching pants free!

The last thing is a little souvenir.

Me and my family went to see We Will Rock You at the west end, and it was soo good! But this is a little badge from it! The show was fab and perfect for any Queen lovers among you, but I think any one would enjoy it!

I am still on the hunt for some Topshop shorts. They were featured in my Wishlist #4 their the blue heart ones. I tried them on in the Guildford Topshop, but was unsure about the sizing, so I waited until London. But were they in the Oxford Street Topshop, or the Topshop in Selfridges? No. I wont bore you with the whole debacle, but I am still yet to have them, so expect to see them soon!

Heres the picture of the dress I promised!

Its just a black, peter pan collared dress with pink hearts on.

My sister said it was a bit like the sort of thing Rachel on Glee would wear!

And that's just about it! If you have any recent hauls, leave a link in a comment, as the are my favourite posts to read!
