Come into the Changing Rooms with me?!

Me and a friend went shopping today, I didn't buy anything (I'm saving!) but there were a few things that I have my eye on!

First we went to H&M, and I saw a dress, that was the same colour as Kate Middleton's engagement dress, and the colour looks really good on brunettes.

I really love the lace sleeves on it!

£24.99

I also tried on some chinos and a top:

Chinos: £14.99
Top: £7.99

I then went to Topshop:

Top: £38
Cardigan: £40

Heads Up Girls!

I have been staying at a friends this weekend, and got s lovely surprise when I got home. My March Glamour Edition had arrived!

On the cover is the gorgeous Reese Witherspoon.

And as I started to read it, to my absolute delight, I found that it was jam-packed with samples! And the one, I still can't get over!!

So a few posts ago, I blogged about the two Chanel foundations, and guess what was a sample?!!

Its the Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation!! I can't explain my excitement when I saw this in there! I'm going to save it for when I go to London to see Ghost the Musical at the West End!

The next sample is another foundation, that I'm also excited to try!

This one is the new Rimmel London Wake Me Up Foundation, that is meant to give you a glowing finish.

And the last sample is:

`
Some of the Vitamins and Extracts Mask and Wash, which I was asked to trial and did a post about.

Now, I'm not sure whether you only get the samples if your a subscriber, as when I got a sample of YSL Touche Eclat, it was only for subscribers, so I'll have to check that out!

The Magazine Awards January (February)

This post was invented by my best friend, http://theautumnbreezeofstyle.blogspot.com/

So as you probably know, when a magazine is released one month, it is about the next month. Eg. a magazine released in January is the February edition.

Me and my best friend (mentioned above) both love reading magazines, and any we get through the month, we swap them.

The three I read this month are:

Glamour, Company and Cosmopolitan. With the celebrities on the cover being: Kelly Brook, Alexa Chung and Pixie Lott.

Glamour:

Glamour never fails to impress me, and although, when my friend did this post, she said there was too much to read, I like the fact there is lots of true life stories. The celebrity stories are always nice to read, and there is lots of advice on new fashion and beauty trends. The page 'Hey, its Ok...' always makes me laugh, and you often get freebies or samples with Glamour, which is defiantly a plus!

Company:

Company was probably my least favourite, due to the fact that there just wasn't a lot that interested me in it. There was no real life stories, and not a lot of helpful advice. The only page I actually enjoyed was the one about nail, lip and hair trends.

Cosmopolitan:

Cosmopolitan was probably my favourite, there was so many things I enjoyed reading about in there, and also found lots of new blogs to read, thanks to the Cosmo Blog Awards. It was a really enjoyable read, there was lots of stories, and the fashion advice was great!

The Winner...

Cosmopolitan!

Whats your favourite magazine?

How I Deal With: Oily Skin Through the Day

This is yet another new style of post that I've decided to do. I'm going to blog about all sorts of things that most girls will go through, and how to manage or prevent them.

From the title, you have probably guessed that this one is going to be about oily skin, and I have very oily skin! I'm not sure whether its just teenage hormones, but my mum also has oily skin. Although one plus is, I will get minimal wrinkles!

There's nothing worse than going through a day, and your whole look gets ruined by shiny T-Zone. Now, the method I use may not work for you, but for me, it works fine and dandy.

There are so many products on the market that promise to do this and that for your skin, but unless you know exactly what's going into it, you could be putting a load of rubbish onto your skin! So when possible, I like to use homemade remedies. That way, I know exactly what I'm using.

So this is really easy to do.

What you need:

Tea Tree Oil
Lime Juice
Some way to juice the lime
A container bottle to store it in
A syringe

The Tea Tree Oil I use is The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil, which i believe is sold for around £6.

What I do, is pour a few drops of this into a ramekin, and then squeeze the lime juice in, and mix it a bit.

I then use the syringe to transfer it into a small bottle.

I put this on my face, after I've moisturised, and it helps keep the oily skin at bay throughout the day.

If your skin does get oily through the day again, use blotting papers to blot!

Hope this works for you!

Summers on the way!

I know its only January, and I'm already thinking about Summer, but, c'mon, whats not to get excited about?! Hot weather, (well fingers crossed!) happy faces and and long days. I for one can't wait!

This little post is about some things I have my eye on for the summer time!

Clothes:
Not to sure whats up with the positioning of the picture!

You may have heard on the grape vine, that, once again, H&M are pairing with Versace to create a new line. I may do a seperate post about it. And looking on the website, I found these, and arnt they just adorable? Patterened denim hot pants? Yes please!

RRP: £24.99

Accessorise:

This summer, I will deffinatley be trying out nail wraps! They are such a cool idea, and they give off such a cool vibe. Nail Rock deffinatley has the best selection in my opinion, and there is a certain design I have my eye on!

You can just see them. The design is awsome!

Another trend I want to try, is feather extentions!

Here's a picture of Selena Gomez sporting the look. When worn subtley like this, I think they look amazing!

Makeup:

I know, I know, this next thing is way out of my league, but a girl can dream right?!

For a long while now, I've been eyeing up the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation.

I think this foundation is perfect for the summer time. Now, I know that Chanel have literally just launched a new foundation- Chanel Perfection Lumiere, but this one, gives a more dewy, natural look, compared to a matt finish. You may prefer a matt finish, but personally, I think a dewy look is nicer for the summer.

The next product, is a beauty sensation. Not many people are not absolutley head over heals in love with it! YSL Touche Eclat is a staple in many womans (and now mens!) makeup bag!

I have said countless times before, how much I want this, and this summer, I really think I'm going to take the plunge and splash the cash! It will be perfect just to pop on, on those summer days, when any other makeup would seem to heavy.

As for eye shadows, I really like wearing creme eye shadow (although, I do wear them all year). They are light wieght, and a good quality one will stay on all day without creasing. Here are a few that are a nice summer shade.

The first one is MAC's Rubenesque. Its a beautiful gold colour, that will suit any skin tone.

Owning one myself, I know that Benefit's creasless cream eyeshadow's are superb quality, and really do last all day. I'm planning on buying this shade for summer:

The shade is Sippin n Dippin. And is a less gold, less shimmery version of Rubenesque.

And the last ones, I have just found out about from Fleur's blog, and they are the Maybelline Eye Tatoo Creme Eyeshadow, and although they are not currently available in the UK. As soon as they are, I will deffinatley be trying them out!

The two bronze colours are simply stunning, and will be making their way into my lipstick collection when their available!

And lastly I will mention a few lipsticks.

I really like coral and pink shades for the summer.

The first one is MAC Costa Chic.

This one is MAC Pink Parrot. (LE)

And also MAC Flamingo. (LE)

And for those who arnt for forking out on MAC lipsticks whenever you feel like it, as, lets be honest, unless your Kim Kardashian, who can?!

But these will be hitting the UK in March, and I cant wait to try them!

These are the Revlon Colour Burst Lip Butters. They come in a wide range of colours, and are supposed to be super moisturising. So perfect for lazy days in the garden!

I hope you enjoyed this post, that turned out to be a bit longer than I expected!

Let me know if you have tried any of the products I've mentioned!

Perfume Perfection: Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh

This style of post is inspired by FleurdeForce's post, Fragrance Friday. I thought I'd do a similar thing. Basically, I'm just blogging about scents that I am really into at the moment, and give all the top notes etc.

So as you will of probably guessed from the title, the perfume is Daisy Eau So Fresh by Marc Jacobs.

Me and the original Daisy have a very love hate relationship. My mum owns it, and one day I'll smell it and love it, and the next I'll hate it. It always smells stunning on my Mum, but sometimes when I wear it, I find that it really doesn't suit me.

But I find Dasiy Eau So Fresh very different. I first smelt it, when me and my best friend when on a shopping trip to Cardiff, and this, and Marc Jacobs Oh Lola (which I own) had just been released. I was sceptical, because of how I feel about Daisy, but I fell in love with it!
I received Oh Lola as a gift for my birthday, which is in October, and I think of Daisy Eau So Fresh as more of a summer scent, so I didn't ask for it.

The bottle is simply gorgeous, don't you think! And the smell really is divine!

Heart Notes: Wild Rose, Violet, Apple Blossom
Top Notes: Ruby Red Grapefuit, Raspberry, Green Leaves, Pear
Base Notes: Plum, Cedarwood, Musk

Compared to the over-whelming original floral scent, this takes a much lighter, fruitier and younger path. It is perfect for spring and summer, and the staying power with Marc Jacobs perfumes is excellent.

So next time your in a drugstore, or department store, have a spray and see what you think!

D.I.Y. Ring Storage

I'm always looking for new storage ideas for my room, and have seen lots of youtube room tour videos, containing this ring storage idea. Its really cheap and easy, and looks so adorable and vintage on a dresser.

You will need:

  • A cocktail glass
  • Piece of ribbon, long enough to tie in a bow
  • Your ring collection!
This takes about 5 minutes to make, all really need it to take a cocktail glass, and tie a piece of ribbon around the stem. Then just fill the glass with you rings.

Simple yet effective! And it looks stunning! Theres something very unique about it!

Hope you try it for yourself!

Review: Clearasil Vitamins and Extracts Range

I am subscribed to Glamour Magazine, and by doing so, I am on the Glamour Panel, which I can tell you, comes with many perks! I often get magazines, asking me to take part in surveys, win products, or trial products.

So maybe two weeks before Christmas, I got an email, from Glamour, asking me to trail a new skincare range being releases. Being a massive skincare junkie, I immediately wanted to take part. I sent back an email, saying how I wanted to take part, but didn't hear back, so assumed that I hadn't been picked to take part.

But then, out of the blue, a received a little package at my door a few weeks before Christmas, and in that package, sat a Clearasil Vitamins and Extracts Wash and Mask, it was as if Christmas had come early!

Ive been using this as a wash and a mask for just over a month now, and at first, I thought it was nothing special. The formulation when first applied to the skin is thin, and the smell is average. But when you start to lather it on your skin, it starts to thicken, and becomes quite luxurious.
It hasn't done anything major to my skin, it hasn't reduced any blemishes, and stopped the odd spot popping up, but it has given my skin a healthier glow, and made it look a little clearer.

As for the mask, the first time I used it, when I removed it, it made my skin sting a little, and I put that down to either, my skin being incredibly deep cleansed, or that I was having an allergic reaction to it. But after about the second use, my skin felt fine afterwards, and actually very soft.

So after Christmas, I was told I would receive another package, containing the accompanying facial scrub and cleansing wipes. And I waited, and waited until two weeks ago, it finally arrived!

Firstly, the scrub. I use it in the morning, and the wash at night. The scrub, like the wash doesn't do anything miraculous to my skin, but it was a nice exfoliator, and made my skin much softer.

Onto the wipes. Before these came, I was using some wipes I received in as a Christmas gift, and I loved everything about them, so obviously, I was rather sceptical as to whether these would be any better. And their not. The first few times I used them, like with the wash, my skin became tight and irritated, but then the more I used them, the more my skin got used to them.
They do remove all my makeup, but their not a patch on my other wipes. They don't smell as nice, they are not as nice to apply and they are harsher on my skin.

Overall, I think the products are pretty good, but I wont be purchasing them again. They were a nice freebie, and it was nice to take advantage of them!
But I do have oily skin, so the products may work better on other skin types. Try them out for yourself, and see what you think!

I expect they will be available at most drugstores, so wont break the bank either!

Have you tried them?

D.I.Y. Photo Display

About a month ago, I went to Jessops, and printed off some photos of me and my friends. I was planning to just stick them on my wall, and have a bit of a collage on there, but my Mum said to be, instead of just having them on my wall, why don't I make something, to display them on? That way, I don't have walls plastered in pictures!

What you will need:

  • Some sort of board that is big enough to hold about 10 photos but not too big that it will take up a lot of space.

  • One or two pillow cases
  • A piece of pretty material that you would like to use

  • A large piece of ribbon

  • A Staple Gun
  • A Hammer (if the board is quite thin, to push the staples back through, if they push through)
  • Scissors
  • Chopping Board
First, cover the board with a pillow case if the material is thin. I had to use two, as there was a pattern on the board. To secure it, staple the it round the back.
Then do the same with the material you use.
After that, you need to start putting the ribbon on. First, I did that big strand from corner to corner. Then work your way down to each corner, and then do the same, crossing the ribbon over itself, until you get something that looks a little like this:

Then, all you have to do it put whichever photos you onto it!

And this is what it looks like finished!

I hope you enjoyed this D.I.Y post, I have another one planned so I'll post it in a few days.

Lauren Conrad Inspired Look

A few weeks ago, i did an Elena Gilbert from the Vampire Diaries Inspired look, and I really enjoyed making it. I mean, what is more fun that trying to make yourself look like a celebrity! So here is another one I have created.

I borrowed the Lauren Conrad Style book from my friend, and I love the makeup that Lauren is wearing on the front of the book. Lauren always has beautiful makeup, but this look will be perfect for Spring this year, as it is light, easy and fun!

A lot of the time, Lauren's makeup is very natural and toned-down, and the look on the front cover is her signature look. Winged eyeliner and toned down coral lips. The only coral lipstick I own is a lot more orange than the colour Lauren wears, but if you have a lighter one, then feel free to use it, or you can go with my look!

So here is the look I created:

Ill start with how I did my hair. My hair was about one and a half days old, so I just spritzed a small amount of dry shampoo into it, this will also help the top knot stay in.
I then just pulled all my hair back into a bun. Then, I used bobby pins, to secure the bun and create and 'perfect' bun. I wanted it to be perfectly round, (like Lauren's) not like my usual messy bun.

If you read my previous post, you would know, that I had been staying at my friends. (who lent me the book). And I used some of her makeup before I came home and created the final look. Ill state the makeup I used any way, even though it isn't mine!

Face:
Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation (friends)
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer (mine)
Benefit CORAlista Blusher (friends)

Eyes:
Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow in RSVP (friends)
Collection 2000 Fast Stroke Liquid Eyeliner (mine)
Collection 2000 and Rimmel London Mascaras (mine)

First, I applied RSVP all over my lips. I then lined my whole lid with the eyeliner, and did a small feline like flick/wing at the edge of my eye. I then coated my lashes with mascara.

Lips:
Barry M Lip Paint in Coral
Barry M Glossy Tube in Coral

Like my lip look in 'The Lipstick Diaries'. I just used the lipstick and then the gloss over top. I blotted with some toilet paper, as I didn't want my lips to be too glossy.

I hope you enjoyed this post and try it out for yourself!

War Horse

Each time I read a book, I like to do a review of it, so you guys can see if its worth buying/ reading, and I thought to myself, why don't I do it on films too?

I wont do it on every single film I watch, as I watch a LOT! But the one I'm going to talk about is in cinemas now, and is really worth going to see!

So last weekend, I went to see War Horse. And there are not enough good things I can say about it!

I have read the book (by Michael Morpurgo) and sometimes a film is a bit of a let down compared to the book, but the film captures the story so well! It is so moving, and despite my best efforts not to, (there was lots of people I knew in the cinema) I ended up blubbing for a lot of the way through it!

I don't want to give away the story line as always, but obviously, it is about a horse, Joey, in the time of the war. He is brought up by a boy called Albie, and the story is how their paths part ways, and the way they come together again.

Take my word for it, GO AND SEE IT!!

If you have seen it, what did you think?

Book Review: The Best Friends Guide To Life by Fearne Cotton and Holly Willoughby

I've read another book! This one is a lot different to my last one, Room.

Sorry about the annoyingly small image!

Its the Fearne and Holly 'The best Friends Guide to Life' and it was lent to me by my best friend. (Thank you)!

Its the sort of book that every girl should read, it gives advice on all things, from friends, to work to boys and was really funny too.

Theres no story line or anything, just stories from Fearne and Holly and tips for you.

Its a really fun read, and I recommend it to any young girl!
