My Favourite Pink Nail Polishes & Summer Picks

Hi Ladies. With Summer basically upon us, (not that you would know it with the rubbish weather in the UK) I thought I would show you my favourite pink nail varnishes that are also great picks for those warmer days when you are looking for a pop of colour on your nails.

Sinful Colours- Orange Cream
When in my local Boots, I was originally looking for Barry M Peach Melba; for some reason all Barry M nail polishes were out of stock, something to do with a faulty batch. So the next brand I immediately looked at was Sinful Colours. I found a colour almost identical to Peach Melba and bought it without hesitation. The formula is lovely, and I wore it for three days without a top coat and it didn't chip at all!

OPI- It's All Greek To Me
I bought this in Target in Florida, (sighs longingly) and wore it nearly everyday whilst I was there. It is the most gorgeous pink. One coat is enough for an opaque covering. The photo above doesn't really do it justice as it is so much prettier in person. I highly recommend this polish, not just for the colour, but the formula and finish is bar none.

Essie- Fiji
I managed to grab this on my Boots advantage card. It is a classic, effortless colour and is so easy to pull off. It compliments almost all skin tones and is the perfect nude without being to white. It looks very elegant too.

Barry M- Flamingo
Flamingo is a bright coral- pink. Again, it is very flattering, and for £2.99 you can't really go wrong. It is one of my go-to summer colours that I rely on again and again for a bright pop of colour on my nails. The formula is alright, once you try higher end nail varnishes, Barry M doesn't seem like the be all and end all, like it use to in my very early teens. But as I said, for the money, it's great!

Models Own- Soda Pop Pink
I bought this at The Clothes Show back in December for around £2 on a whim, and had never used it until about 3 months ago. I would describe it as a dusty rose pink colour. Different to your usual pastel pink- just slightly darker. I think its a little more subtle as its not as bright as in your face as some baby pinks. The formula is again alright with this, and it smells pretty awful, but I paid a minimal price for it, so I really can't complain!

My Top 5 Nail Polishes for Spring

Hi Ladies. Happy Easter! (A little late, I know)! I hope you all had a lovely day yesterday.  I am really looking forward to the days getting a little warmer (fingers crossed) and shops are full of spring shades at the moment. These are my top picks for nail varnishes in the spring months.

Models Own Soda Pop Pink: This is a really pretty almost pastel pink. I like it because it is still relatively bright, whilst being understated. The consistency is nice, the same as all Models Own polishes.

17 Woo Me: Woo Me is the perfect lilac colour. It is very flattering on the nails and although the staying power isn't outstanding, with a base and top coat you are looking at it staying on your nails for around 2 days.

Barry M Mint Green: Barry M Nail Polishes are one of my favourite high street polishes. They have an amazing colour range that are amazing quality and great value for money. I always get lots of compliments whilst wearing it. This is quite a good dupe for the very famous Essie Mint Candy Apple, because every one loves  a mint green nail polish!

Barry M NP 244: This one doesn't have a name, because I received it in a Barry M goody bag at the clothes show. It is a glitter polish with chunky lilac hexagons and subtle silver shimmer. It looks lovely paired with Woo Me.

Barry M Mushroom: This was the first Barry M nail polish I ever bought, and have loved it every since. It never fails to look classy on the nails, and although brown is a weird colour to wear on your nails, it does look very pretty.

What are your favourite spring time nail polishes?

MAC All That Glitters Dupe?!

I can safely say, after buying my first MAC eyeshadow, I fell in love. The pigmentation and colour pay off, staying power and all round excellent quality has me completly in awre!
But despite my love fore them, like everyone else, I am always on the look out for dupes, but little did I know, I had a similar shadow in my collection already!

The dupe I have found is Barry M Dazzle Dust in Tan.

L- Barry M, R- MAC

The only difference is, the Barry M is a bit less peach, and more shimmery. The staying power of the MAC is much better, which I guess is a given, as 9/10 times, you get what you pay for with MAC. Even with a primer, MAC doesnt crease at all, where as with the Barry M, you may come across slight fading throughout the day.

Price Difference:
MAC All That Glitters=  £10 in pan form, or £12 normally.
Barry M Dazzle Dust in Tan= £4.59

Saving of:
£5.41, or £6.51 depending on how you purchase you eyeshadows.

Personally, I prefer the look of All That Glitters when its on the lid, but if you are on a budget, then the Barry M Dazzle Dust is perfect!

Do you own either of these?

Ah, winged eyeliner and red lips. The timeless, classic look that never dates. Here I have a toned down version of the look, that is quite often worn when going out. This look is nice for spring and summer, whilst not too heavy that you look like you've tried to hard during the day!

OFOTD & My Attempt at Caviar Nails!

Okay, I'll admit it, posts have been lacking recently, but today, on this quiet Sunday before Bank Holiday Monday, I will bombard you with posts! Hooray!

This is the outfit I put together for a trip to town yesterday, (I did buy a few bits, but I'm going to save them for a Collective Haul, seeing as me and my friend have a big shopping trip planned in the near future!

Shorts- Topshop
Collared Top- Primark
Cardigan- Topshop

And here is my attempt at the caviar nail effect that has taken the blogging scene by storm. I didn't have any tiny beads, so I made do with hundreds and thousands!

I only did the Caviar Effect on one nail, as I wasn't expecting them to last long! And I was right, after about 5 hours, they had peeled off! I guess using beads is the better option! (My nails are painted with Barry M Shocking Pink).

What do you think?

Candy NOTD

I saw this idea in Glamour magazine, and tried it out for myself:

With flash

Without flash.

I used:
Barry M Mint Green
Barry M Shocking Pink
Cocktail Stick

Its really simple, all you do it paint your nails with your desired colour, and with a cocktail stick, use the other contrasting colour to draw two diagonal lines in the corner of your nail.

I love the look of these, and they are perfect from the spring time!

I hope you try it for yourself!

London NOTD's

I did a London OFOTD, but I changed my nails almost as frequently! So here's what I wore on my nails through the week.
First:

Pink colour is Barry M Shocking Pink, and the red on the ring finger is Barry M Red Glitter.

Second:

All of my nails painted with Barry M Shocking Pink.

Third:

All of my nails painted with Barry M Mushroom.

Fourth:

Nail design inspired by SoTotallyVlog's tutorial. I painted my nails with Barry M Gold Foil Effect and used sellotape and OPI Teal The Cows Come Home to create the triangle.

As you can see, I own a lot of Barry M Nail Paints!

NOTD- Spring Brights

The weathers so gloomy outside at the moment, I wanted to lift my mood, and do a bright nail design for the weekend!

I painted all my fingers apart from my ring finger with OPI Atomic Orange, and then my ring finger with Barry M Shocking Pink.

Lauren Conrad Inspired Look

A few weeks ago, i did an Elena Gilbert from the Vampire Diaries Inspired look, and I really enjoyed making it. I mean, what is more fun that trying to make yourself look like a celebrity! So here is another one I have created.

I borrowed the Lauren Conrad Style book from my friend, and I love the makeup that Lauren is wearing on the front of the book. Lauren always has beautiful makeup, but this look will be perfect for Spring this year, as it is light, easy and fun!

A lot of the time, Lauren's makeup is very natural and toned-down, and the look on the front cover is her signature look. Winged eyeliner and toned down coral lips. The only coral lipstick I own is a lot more orange than the colour Lauren wears, but if you have a lighter one, then feel free to use it, or you can go with my look!

So here is the look I created:

Ill start with how I did my hair. My hair was about one and a half days old, so I just spritzed a small amount of dry shampoo into it, this will also help the top knot stay in.
I then just pulled all my hair back into a bun. Then, I used bobby pins, to secure the bun and create and 'perfect' bun. I wanted it to be perfectly round, (like Lauren's) not like my usual messy bun.

If you read my previous post, you would know, that I had been staying at my friends. (who lent me the book). And I used some of her makeup before I came home and created the final look. Ill state the makeup I used any way, even though it isn't mine!

Face:
Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation (friends)
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer (mine)
Benefit CORAlista Blusher (friends)

Eyes:
Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow in RSVP (friends)
Collection 2000 Fast Stroke Liquid Eyeliner (mine)
Collection 2000 and Rimmel London Mascaras (mine)

First, I applied RSVP all over my lips. I then lined my whole lid with the eyeliner, and did a small feline like flick/wing at the edge of my eye. I then coated my lashes with mascara.

Lips:
Barry M Lip Paint in Coral
Barry M Glossy Tube in Coral

Like my lip look in 'The Lipstick Diaries'. I just used the lipstick and then the gloss over top. I blotted with some toilet paper, as I didn't want my lips to be too glossy.

I hope you enjoyed this post and try it out for yourself!
